Understanding Depression

What is depression?

We all go through ups and downs in our mood. Sadness is a normal reaction to life’s struggles, setbacks, and disappointments. Many people use the word “depression” to explain these kinds of feelings, but depression is much more than just sadness.

Some people describe depression as “living in a black hole” or having a feeling of impending doom. However, some depressed people don't feel sad at all—instead, they feel lifeless, empty, and apathetic.

Whatever the symptoms, depression is different from normal sadness in that it engulfs your day-to-day life, interfering with your ability to work, study, eat, sleep, and have fun. The feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and worthlessness are intense and unrelenting, with little, if any, relief.

Are you depressed?

If you identify with several of the following signs and symptoms, and they just won’t go away, you may be suffering from clinical depression.

  • you can’t sleep or you sleep too much
  • you can’t concentrate or find that previously easy tasks are now difficult
  • you feel hopeless and helpless
  • you can’t control your negative thoughts, no matter how much you try
  • you have lost your appetite or you can’t stop eating
  • you are much more irritable and short-tempered than usual
  • you have thoughts that life is not worth living (Seek help immediately if this is the case)

Signs and symptoms of depression

Depression varies from person to person, but there are some common signs and symptoms. It’s important to remember that these symptoms can be part of life’s normal lows. But the more symptoms you have, the stronger they are, and the longer they’ve lasted—the more likely it is that you’re dealing with depression. When these symptoms are overwhelming and disabling, that's when it's time to seek help.

Common signs and symptoms of depression

  • Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. A bleak outlook—nothing will ever get better and there’s nothing you can do to improve your situation.
  • Loss of interest in daily activities. No interest in former hobbies, pastimes, social activities, or sex. You’ve lost your ability to feel joy and pleasure.
  • Appetite or weight changes. Significant weight loss or weight gain—a change of more than 5% of body weight in a month.
  • Sleep changes. Either insomnia, especially waking in the early hours of the morning, or oversleeping (also known as hypersomnia).
  • Irritability or restlessness. Feeling agitated, restless, or on edge. Your tolerance level is low; everything and everyone gets on your nerves.
  • Loss of energy. Feeling fatigued, sluggish, and physically drained. Your whole body may feel heavy, and even small tasks are exhausting or take longer to complete.
  • Self-loathing. Strong feelings of worthlessness or guilt. You harshly criticize yourself for perceived faults and mistakes.
  • Concentration problems. Trouble focusing, making decisions, or remembering things.
  • Unexplained aches and pains. An increase in physical complaints such as headaches, back pain, aching muscles, and stomach pain.

HOW TO ATTRACT GIRLS : 5 SIMPLE WAYS

Many guys make a huge mistakes when they want to attract girls that they like. They suddenly being to much of "nice guys". Being "nice" and "accommodating" and "understanding" is great for friendships and social relationships, but it's HORRIBLE for ATTRACTION. The reality is women don't base their choices of men on how "nice" a guy is. They choose the men they do because they feel a powerful ATTRACTION for them. For most women, attraction is triggered by male qualities like : Attention, Humor, Adventurous, Romance, Unpredictability. In the other words, women are attracted more to PERSONALITY and CHARACTER from men.

Now, I am going to explain five important personalities on how to attract girls that you need to cultivate in yourself if you want to attract girls... and keep them attracted.

1. Attention
Women like attention. It's better to hint at the attention that you're giving them than to be too overt about it. For examples, "I was thinking about you earlier today, and I just wanted to mention that I really like the sound of your voice..."

2. Funny

Humor is just plain powerful with women. If you can keep her laughing, you will go far.

3. Adventurous

Women are instantly attracted to men who like to do extreme, adventurous, unusual, and even dangerous things. It's exciting. Adventurism is sexy.

4. Romantic Imagination

Instead of just looking at the surface of a woman, you should looks within her to find the beautiful part and use your imagination for making poetic comments, interesting stories, and emotional interpretation in everything.

5. Unpredictable/Predictable

Women are drawn to men who they can't control or predict. They obsess over guys who flirt, give them attention, and then don't call the next day. Predictability is only attractive when it comes to choosing a HUSBAND. Then a woman usually wants a man who's VERY predictable.

5 SIGNS YOU ARE IN LOVE

1. You're easily awed.

When you're in love with someone, they tend to appear far more interesting, clever and amazing that everyone else. They could recite a haiku they wrote in the 5th grade, and you'll want to immediately nominate them for a Pulitzer. Ok, maybe you're not that easily awed -- but it's generally very easy to be thoroughly impressed by someone you're full on in love with.

2. You fantasize about them constantly.

This doesn't necessarily have to mean that kind of fantasizing, but that kind of fantasizing is likely to feature somewhere in the mix. To distinguish between love and lust, however, you'll probably also need to be fantasizing about other things, as well. Romance, tenderness, that type of thing. If you're only thinking dirty thoughts, you're probably only in lust.

3. You get stupid.

When you're really affected by someone on this level, there is often a tendency to become a right idiot. Some people trip over their words, some people completely forget how to speak, some people blurt out strange things and then wonder what possessed them to do so. If you're not normally this absurd but suddenly turn into some geek from an 80s coming of age flick, you're probably in love.

4. You forget about everyone else.

Your mother, father, sister, best friend and work colleagues are wondering why you never have time for them anymore. You can't even spare 5 minutes to tell your best friend the naughty details of your romance, because that would take 5 minutes away from the person you're getting naughty with. If everything else fades into the background, you're probably in love.

5. Suddenly, the idea of marriage doesn't seem so smothering.

Notice I haven't said that you're making plans to get married, or that you're even considering it. This is more about the concept itself no longer seeming outrageous. If you're in love with someone, the idea of getting married doesn't feel so strange, even if you're far from being prepared to do it. This will apply to men as well as women. Contrary to popular belief, men don't really have any qualms about marriage when it involves someone they are truly in love with.

Masculine or Beautiful: Which one do girls prefer?

Few days ago, I listen to this topic in my university radio channel. Lets continue the talk.

Since ages ago, we know that girls love man, i mean MASCULINE MAN. They want their man to protect them, give them assurance, be cool, macho, tough body with muscles esp the abdomen part and list goes on. Well, that is how it HAS BEEN.
Nowadays, that is not the story anymore. Girls have started to show more interest in BEAUTIFUL guys. Hehe, let me explain what i mean by beautiful guy. A guy who looks after his appearance, wear cosmetics, no muscles only skin and bone(partly anorexic), stylish and his eyes will shine when girls look into them. A perfect example is Justin Bieber.

So, which one girls actually prefer? I am confused....What they want in man?? From my observation, girls go crazy for Justin Bieber (and also Jonas Brothers). He is not much talented but managed to make the girls do anything for him. Recently, he just released his own brand of perfume. What the h@#$? 16 years old producing perfume brand! What does that suppose to mean...huh? Crazy Crazy!!!

The Reasons French Women Don't Get Fat

1. French women eat 'good' fats rather than 'bad' fats

The French diet is largely made up of healthy unsaturated fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated) from plant and dairy sources and some 'natural' saturated fats from cheese and whole milk. These are easier for the body to break down.

The average Malaysian diet features greater amounts of 'bad' trans fat from hydrogenated vegetable oil (commonly found in deep fried chicken, fried egg, chips), which has been shown to have very negative impacts on blood cholesterol levels.

2. French women savor their food

They tend to taste small morsels individually rather than eating by large forkfuls. It takes about 20 minutes for the brain to signal feelings of fullness, so when you slow down with smaller bites, you taste food more and are satisfied with less.

We Malaysians, on the other hand, often exclude pleasure in eating that makes them eat more -- it's common to see them munching while working, snacking while watching TV. Studies have shown that people are more likely to overeat when they are distracted during their meals.

3. French women eat fresh

The French diet features a large amount of fresh food. It's not at all uncommon for French women to spend a good chunk of their time selecting fresh ingredients to use in their cooking.

Processed foods (esp the canned food) that are high in fat and sugar play only a very marginal role in 'French' diets so the likes of bagels, pizza, burgers, potato chips and candy go out of the window to a large extent.

4. French women eat regular meals and don't snack between meals

Sitting down for meals (rather than snacking on the go or doing other things while eating) allows you to enjoy your food to a greater extent, aids digestion and can help you to feel fuller for longer.

Our main activity here is eating, any time, anywhere!

5. French women indulge -- in smaller portions

Eating smaller amounts of good quality food is better than consuming larger quantities of low quality food. The idea is that you can eat whatever you like -- as long as you only eat a small amount of it -- and this applies to treats too.

No no no. We Malaysian makan puas puas.

6. French women drink plenty of water

The French prefer bottled water to sodas which are laden with sugar and hidden calories.

Have you seen our girls, sirap ais, teh o limau ais, air bandung and etc. NO SWEET, NO DRINK!

Conclusion

The French diet may be high in saturated fat, but it's essential to note that these are predominantly of the 'good' variety that are easier for the body to metabolize, whereas the Malaysian diet is largely made up of more artificial 'bad' sources of saturated fats. MALAYSIA BOLEH ! MAKAN…
